New Jersey Porcelain Veneers and Lava Crowns Specialist

Dr. Richard Champagne is one of the leading New Jersey porcelain veneers specialists. He has helped many New Jersey cosmetic dentistry patients gain brighter, more beautiful smiles. From his state-of-the-art dental office, Dr. Champagne treats patients from Morganville and across New Jersey. On the page below, Dr. Champagne describes porcelain veneers and how they can be used to improve your smile.

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite materials that are designed to improve the color, shape, and/or size of a person’s teeth. Dental veneers a good solution for a person with discolored teeth, worn down teeth, broken or chipped teeth, gaps between teeth, or misaligned and uneven teeth.

The dental veneer procedure requires three dental visits: one for a consultation, and two additional procedures to make and apply the veneers.

The first step in obtaining veneers is planning a visit with Dr. Champagne for the dental veneers. During the initial appointment, Dr. Champagne examines a person’s teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate. For example, a person who is seeking whiter teeth may not need veneers but instead would benefit from teeth whitening.

After the initial consultation, a person will return to Dr. Champagne’s office to make a mold or model of his or her teeth, which will be sent off to a dental laboratory to construct the veneers. In the lab, CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) technology constructs the veneers. After a week or two, a person will return to the dentist to have the veneers applied.

During the veneer application, Dr. Champagne temporarily places the veneer on the tooth to examine the color and fit. He may trim the veneer to properly fit it to the teeth.

Once the veneer is a perfect fit for the tooth, Dr. Champagne cleans and polishes the teeth to prepare the tooth for the veneer. Dr. Champagne positions the veneer on the tooth and uses a light beam to activate the cementing chemicals on the veneer to harden on the tooth. Dr. Champagne repeats the process if more teeth require veneers.

After the veneer is applied, Dr. Champagne removes excess cement, evaluates a person’s bite, and makes any necessary adjustments.

A person may require a follow up visit to Dr. Champagne for evaluation of his or her bite, and how the person is adjusting to the new veneers.

Lava Crowns with Dr. Richard Champagne

In addition to porcelain veneers, Dr. Richard Champagne offers porcelain crowns to patients with damaged teeth. Crowns, also known as “caps,” are permanent coverings placed over severely damaged teeth to improve the patient’s smile and prevent further damage. Dr. Champagne is committed to providing his patients with the most durable, natural-looking crowns possible. For that reason, he used pure porcelain Lava crowns, which result in strong teeth and stunning smiles.

Lava crowns are created using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology for a precise fit and the utmost comfort. Unlike other crowns on the market, Lave crowns are entirely free of metal and contain a zircona framework that allows each crown to be custom colored to match the patient’s existing natural teeth. In addition, the combination of porcelain and zircona creates exceptionally strong crown as well as one that is biocompatible. Moreover, the low thermal conductivity of Lava crowns leads to minimal teeth sensitivity, one of the common side effects of other crowns.

When providing his patients with Lava crowns, Dr. Champagne first examines the patient’s teeth to assess the damage and determine whether Lava crowns are the appropriate treatment. If the patient is considered a candidate for Lava crowns, Dr. Champagne creates a mold of the patient’s teeth. Next, he used the mold to fabricate the crowns in his onsite laboratory. In a separate appointment, Dr. Champagne then gently places the crowns on the patient’s teeth using a powerful cement.

With Lava crowns, as well as porcelain veneers, Dr. Champagne restores the smiles and self-confidence of many satisfied NJ cosmetic dentistry patients. To learn more about porcelain veneers and Lava crowns with Dr. Champagne, please contact his office at 732-972-0918.
